It’s not often that the push of a button summons a tricycle-riding man bearing peanut butter ice cream.

But this Friday, July 24, is Uber’s third annual ice cream on demand day, and they’ve partnered with local ice cream vendor Milkhaus to bring on demand ice cream to Fargo.

From 11 AM – 4 PM on Friday, July 24, you will be able to open the Uber app, toggle over to the “Ice Cream” option, and order ice cream delivered directly to your location.

“It’s happening in Europe, Australia, Asia, and it’s happening in Fargo,” said Jaime Moore, Uber communications representative. “It started in San Francisco three years ago and was such a hit, now it’s in over 240 cities. People love it. I wish it was every day.”

Seth Locken, co-founder of Milkhaus, has even developed a custom flavor just for this momentous day: Uber Peanut Butter. For $20, you’ll get four handmade peanut butter ice cream pops. The Uber fare is included in the price. Ice cream will be delivered to you by either an Uber driver, or there’s a high chance it’ll be Locken himself riding the Milkhaus trike.

“We are putting the trike on the Uber app so you can see where I am at all times. Don’t tell my mother!” Locken said. “I will still be in the jurisdiction of downtown, and now you can just push a button and I will be there on demand. I honestly don’t know what to expect, and plan on just enjoying the day rain or shine!”

Moore said she discovered Milkhaus via Facebook, and was impressed with the photos and flavors. Not surprising, considering Locken and his co-founder Chris Wilkes specialize in flavors like brown sugar bacon, mint basil, roasted watermelon, and hickory-smoked vanilla, all made with North Dakota grown ingredients. Now Uber peanut butter joins the menu.

“Peanut Butter popped into my mind either because it was awoken from some deep sub-conscience of a customer asking for it a year ago, or because I always feel like peanut butter is a traveler’s best friend for a quick snack,” Locken said. “Also peanut butter is just super delicious!”

MilkhausMoore said that while peanut butter will be the primary flavor offered, Locken will also be carrying sorbets and a few other flavors in case of peanut allergy.

Uber first began experimenting with the “anything-on-demand” idea years ago in San Francisco. So far they have at some point had on demand options for kittens, Halloween costumes, live band performances, helicopters, and even full blown weddings.

“It’s about being able to touch a button and have something magical happen,” Moore said.

Apart from this one day only on demand option, Milkhaus ice cream can also be found at Red Raven, Dunn Brothers, Blackbird Woodfire, and Atomic Coffee.
