What is Emerging Digital Academy?
Emerging Digital Academy is a 20-week Full Stack Engineering course that equips its students with the skills to build modern web applications from scratch. Students not only learn how to research and solve technical skills to continue upgrading their skill-set, but they also are able to form valuable connections with Fargo Tech industry professionals to ensure readiness upon graduation.
Within Emerging Digital Academy, the journey to becoming a software engineer is more than just learning to code - it’s about personal growth, building valuable connections and transforming career paths. Papa Dienou Faye, a recent graduate of EDA’s Neumann cohort exemplifies the impact that Emerging Digital Academy has on its students.
Why Emerging Digital Academy?
For Papa, Emerging Digital Academy offered him a fresh perspective. Not only did he have the opportunity to build his technical skills, but adapt to life in the United States. “EDA has helped me grow professionally, but also as a human being,” he shared. As a new resident to the Fargo area, Emerging Digital Academy’s inclusivity provided the perfect launchpad into the local tech community for Papa. The guidance from the mentors and individuals at EDA turned Papa’s path of becoming a software engineer into a rewarding and inspiring journey.
Papa recalls one of the most transformative lessons being when he learned the importance of attention to detail. He recalls rigorous training and collaborative projects that slowly turned the skill into second nature.
“Now I see things that weren’t that obvious before, and it makes my coding skills more valuable.”

These moments of camaraderie—sharing coffee, inspiring ideas and networking with the Fargo tech community—illustrated the vibrant and inclusive culture that EDA provides.
Insights for Future Cohorts
If one is considering joining EDA, Papa offers this piece of encouragement: “I haven't seen a better bridge to becoming a software developer in North Dakota.” As for his advice for the next cohort—Time management is key. “Give it everything from the beginning, don't miss any assignments and repeat them if you can.”
