About Tech4Kids
Tech4Kids is a non-profit organization. As remote learning is increasingly becoming more pervasive, Tech4Kids provides the necessary software and technological tools needed to “support a remote academic learning environment for kids to succeed.” Technology is both an empowering teaching and learning tool.
“Providing kids with technology that may not be available to them in their homes allows them the opportunity to explore, to solve problems, to express individual creativity, and to accomplish real world tasks.”
Tech4Kids repurposes laptops, MacBooks, and iPads. Children are then given these devices to use for remote learning, homework help, online tutoring, and as a counseling tool. Not only this, but Tech4Kids also mentors children. This helps the children learn to use computers, troubleshoot, and learn more skills to “ensure that internet safety is a priority.”
As Amy reflects on the highs and lows of Tech4Kids, Amy explains that the best part is seeing the smiling faces of the children when they first receive their laptop. Amy states, “it warms my heart to see the gratitude these children have.” She shares that a low would be, “building a team that stays engaged and contributes to the continued success of Tech4Kids. We also continue to run out of laptops, as soon as we get them and check them in, they are gone. There is a huge need!”
When asked how the community can support Amy and Tech4Kids, Amy states, “I am looking for Tech Savvy individuals to join our team to help reload and swap out hard drives and RAM if need be. I would also like for more companies to partner with Tech4kids to donate their used laptops to us.”
