About Nick Smoot

Nick Smoot is the founder and CEO of Aesop Industries. He grew up in a small town in Idaho – it was a former mining and timber town! Nick ventured to Fargo thanks to Mary Snapp from Microsoft. Mary loves Fargo and knows how much Nick believes in Ag towns, he is a big believer in the overlooked communities as the actual secret sauce that will help us create a future we are proud of.

Tell us about your company and your mission.

Our business is all about unlocking under performing human potential to drive better economic outcomes. We turn bundling an economy into a social activity and a team sport. We have software, policy, playbooks, placemaking, etc all focused on unleashing latent human capital or better put, the magic in people.”

 

What are some wins you are celebrating?

“I’ve done startup deals with Sir Richard Branson and the Hearst family, helped start the most successful Ray and Joan Kroc Center, sparked a community movement that earned our town the designation of a “digital capital” by google. I also launched a state wide talent development platform that won a national award for the top talent development effort by a Land Grant university. As well, I have two awesome sons who are incredible humans.”

 

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your entrepreneurial journey?

“People are magic, believe in them.”
