About Peter
Peter Schultze, co-founder and CEO of Plyo, attended University of Minnesota and as of recently put his degree on hold to pursue his passion of Plyo full-time. One of the University of Minnesota’s dorm rooms was where Plyo was created back in 2017. Peter curated the idea of Plyo because of the frustration he had with the lifestyle choices of his peers. Peter’s entrepreneurship journey didn’t start out easy though. He had a company previously that he ran with his co-founder in a 400 square feet apartment that smelled like sardines. They kept pushing through even though they were failing but eventually realized there was no money, partnerships, or customers so Peter bought his partner’s share of the company and refocused. He grew the business back up to profitability using a different vertical. He sold that company which then gave him the opportunity to jump full-time into Plyo without looking back!
About Plyo
Plyo was founded in 2017 by Peter Schultze and Justin Buhl. Peter explains, “Plyo is an app that rewards students for exercising on campus with virtual points that can be redeemed for exclusive offers from popular restaurants, retailers, and brands!” Plyo doesn’t just help students receiving rewards though. Plyo benefits brands by connecting with healthy and active students on campus and universities by aiding in their student’s health and academic results. Peter says, “We believe that being physically active is fundamental to living a happy and wholesome life, and that the key to building an active lifestyle is making fitness fun and sustainable.” Peter’s passion about Plyo shines through when I asked him, “What about your job makes you want to go to work every day?” and he replied, “All of it. Hard to even call it work. I have the opportunity to work alongside some incredibly smart, genuine people, and to build a company with a strong mission that everyone can get behind. It’s so cool seeing thousands of people using Plyo and continuously growing our platform, especially knowing we’re just getting started!”
