KegToss: disposable beer kegs

As a pharmaceutical entrepreneur, Tyler Ebert is making strides to bring peace of mind to severe allergy sufferers through drug delivery innovations. While still a student at the University of Minnesota, Ebert and his co-founder, Chris Kuehn decided to use their combined knowledge and experience to create, AdrenaCard, INC. AdrenaCard provides “… innovations in drug delivery that are easier to carry, more intuitive to use, and more accessible to patients,” states Ebert.

Tyler is no fledgling when it comes to entrepreneurial ventures. Over the past few years, he has opened and managed restaurants for Aramark, created KegToss (a cost-effective beer keg company) which was later sold, and started AdrenaCard. With all this experience, why start a company in the pharmaceutical industry? Ebert shared, “I realized that I would never be smart enough to be a doctor, but I could build the right device that could help millions.”

Ebert operates AdrenaCard with his Co-founder Chris Kuehn.  Chris and Tyler met a few years ago through a student-led business and idea incubator based at the University of Minnesota a few years ago called Co-Lab. Ebert explained, “We both had a passion for starting a company and we found a gap in the pharmaceutical industry that we felt we could meet with better-designed devices for everyday use.“ The two set out to create an epinephrine auto-injector in the shape of a credit card that is easier to carry and use for allergy sufferers. Currently, the AdrenaCard team consists of four employees with offices in Alexandria and Minneapolis, MN.

Prior to his role as CEO at AdrenaCard, Ebert was previously the Director of Co-Lab, the student-led incubator where his company began. Over the last two years, he has helped raise more than $1,000,000 across six industries for a total of 18 student-led ventures.

He cumulatively led 40 students in this entrepreneurial community, which allows for networking opportunities across the University and community partners for the development and implementation of new programs and companies. As a result of his success with AdrenaCard and his role as Director of Co-Lab, the University of Minnesota recognized Tyler as the Entrepreneur Leader of the Year for 2015.
