Today, Feb. 26, Fargo-made video game On My Own launched on the online computer gaming platform Steam.
The game, a 2D woodland survival game featuring a philosophical backpacker, was created by Fargo locals Chad Close and Kyle Weik. The story is written by Sarah English and the music is all originally written and produced by local composer, Cody Qualley.
Weik said he hopes to have the iOS and Android version available soon after March. The retail price is $7.99 for Steam and will be $2.99 for the mobile version, he said.
The game will also be hitting Xbox One, which will release hopefully in the summer, Weik said.
On My Own debuted in January 2015 and has since garnered over half a million users from around the world. It is being developed under the independent game developer company, Beach Interactive.

In addition to building On My Own, Weik also runs a monthly meet-up for those in Fargo’s game design industry called the Fargo Game-Maker’s Meet-up. Ultimately he hopes the games created in Fargo will continue to foster a growing indie game developer community.
“It would make me happy if someone from Fargo came and made an even better game. And it just continues to get better,” Weik said on a podcast by NerdQ.
