A Minneapolis-based startup called Buzzcut is coming to Fargo, and it claims to make big changes to the nightlife experience. Buzzcut’s co-founder and president, Joseph Taralson, presented at today’s 1 Million Cups Fargo to tell us more about the app, which is hitting the streets of Fargo very soon thanks to a partnership with Fargo Monthly.
Buzzcut is a mobile application that keeps you in the know about all the hot spots to hit downtown. It allows you to browse through local happy hours, deals, music, and other special events, all published in real-time by local restaurants and bars.
Imagine, Fargoans, hitting up karaoke night at Dempsey’s after enjoying half-off margaritas at Vinyl Taco, for example. The website claims that Buzzcut is “the simplest way to plan your night. Period.”
“It’s a universal truth that everyone loves a deal,” Taralson said in an article on Tech.mn, while the app was still in beta. “Daily deal sites have been popular for years, but they lack curation and gouge vendor revenue…Buzzcut makes it easy for users to snag free offers when they’re on the go and gives vendors the power to release offers when they need the traffic.”
The iOS app was released to the Twin Cities public this past summer, quickly acquiring 65 restaurants/bars and 650 users. Tech.mn reported that Buzzcut has “gained ground in the Twin Cities and are monetizing via merchants who pay for premium adverts.”
Now, Buzzcut has partnered with Fargo Monthly magazine to expand to a second market and co-market their free app throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area.
“We’re thrilled to bring Buzzcut to Fargo/Moorhead, my hometown and a community filled with passionate, friendly people and a really thriving nightlife scene,” Taralson said in a recently released article on Tech.mn.
