Next up in our Meet the Captains for our June 16 Startup Drinks is the woman behind the 1 Million Cups Fargo tweets, Lisa Gulland-Nelson. She’s also the Vice President or Marketing & Public Relations at the EDC. Lisa has been a strong presence in the community from the get-go, and we’re so pleased she’ll be a Captain next week!
Lisa Gulland-Nelson: Marketing Master
1. Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it?
No nickname, but I always wanted one. [Sounds like a challenge. Startup Drinks attendees, let’s give Lisa a nickname]
2. If you could describe your startup as an animal what animal would it be?
I don’t have a startup, but if I did I’m thinking a monkey.
3. What is one of the most influential books you’ve ever read?
The book that comes to mind quickly as one that was influential for me is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.
4. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
I’ve always wanted to go on an African safari. It sounds so exciting.
5. What is one the coolest places you’ve traveled?
I loved St. Thomas. It was so beautiful. I also loved walking through the archeological site of the Mayan Civilization at Chechen Itza in Mexico.
6. What is one of the hardest parts about doing social media for #1MCFar??
The hardest part of doing social media for 1MCFAR is keeping up with some of the technical jargon and simplifying it enough for a tweet (before they say the next awesome thing). I will say that managing Twitter for 1MCFAR has been a blast. The community has really come together, and it’s fun to watch and interact with everyone on Wednesdays.
