HQC Biosciences at 1 Million Cups Fargo
Last Wednesday, 1 Million Cups Fargo experienced its first change of venue since the event’s inception this past January. Members of the Fargo community and travelers alike gathered at the Fargo Public Library to hear Dr. Erin Nyren-Erickson discuss HQC Biosciences.
With a new location and the ever-constant free coffee, 1 Million Cups Fargo had over 90 community members in attendance. Individuals from Minneapolis and other parts of the Midwest region were also in attendance, ready to witness and be a part of Fargo’s entrepreneurial culture.
Erin did not disappoint. Her company’s mission is to develop solutions for faster detection of biological threats, anything from blood infections to many other practical applications. Currently running her work out of NDSU’s technology incubator, Erin is striving to dismantle current detection practices that require 1-3 days of incubation in order to discover existing pathogenic microbes in samples. HQC Biosciences is creating a replicable process that will detect these threats in less than six hours.
After months of production and internal testing, Erin is looking for assistance in the Fargo community to further her testing. The members of last week’s audience were very keen on asking questions about this process. Emerging Prairie expects fantastic news to come from Erin and her company soon as she progresses with her plans.
Due to this event’s success, 1 Million Cups Fargo will continue at the Fargo Public Library. See below for an address. Aaron Hill, co-creator of the Fargo Brewing Company, will be presenting this Wednesday, April 2, at 9:15 AM in the Community Room. Check out this company that is putting Fargo on the brewery map!
Coffee will be provided to kick start your day thanks to Miguel Danielson of Danielson Legal, LLC. Please fill out this attendance form if you are attending; Miguel needs to know how much coffee to buy!
