In the wake of Dr. Greg Cant moving to a new position in New Jersey, Concordia College has now found a new dean for the Offut School of Business. Dr. K. Brewer Doran was previously the the dean of the Bertolon School of Business at Salem State University in Massachusetts, and will start as Concordia’s new business dean on August 14.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Offutt School of Business at Concordia,” Doran says. “Thanks to the efforts of Dean Greg Cant, the faculty and staff, the foundations have been laid for extraordinary achievements at the Offutt School, and I look forward to continuing the success so far. I am also thankful for the extremely warm welcome offered to me by the Concordia community.”
President William Craft says he joins the whole Concordia community in expressing excitement at Doran’s appointment.
“Her extraordinary union of study in the liberal arts, business management, and cross-cultural marketing with business leadership in her own right will enable Concordia to shape the Offutt School as a destination for business education in our region and beyond,” Craft said.
Craft offered personal thanks to dean of the College Eric Eliason, search chair Professor Ron Twedt and his colleagues, and Concordia grad Dr. Richard Torgerson of AGB Search of their success in conducting a search for the new dean.
Doran served as the dean of the Bertolon School of Business since 2005. According to a post on Concordia’s website, during her time there she improved student outcomes, built relationships with the business community and raised funds for the school of business.
Doran earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history and anthropology from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. from McGill University in Montréal. Her doctoral work focused on cross-cultural marketing, including a study of Chinese and North American consumers.
In addition to her work in higher education, she has business experience working for International Paper Corp. and also has owned her own aviation and consulting businesses.
