In a first ever endeavor to collect extensive data on the startups in Fargo-Moorhead, CoCo announced last night that they are launching a Startup survey. The survey, dubbed the “Startup Roundup,” hopes to quantify the depth and breadth of local startups.
“We want to know more about what’s going on in the area,” said CoCo co-founder Don Ball. “How many startups are there, exactly? What are they focusing on? And how successful are they?”
To answer these questions, CoCo Fargo, Fargo’s first coworking space, teamed up with Emerging Prairie and the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation (GMFEDC) to present this survey today, to you.
Questions in the survey cover such topics as:
- Business focus
- Founders
- Employees
- Funding challenges
- Business challenges
- Exit plans
The survey can be accessed online at: http://cocomsp.com/startuproundup
According to the press release, aggregate survey findings will be revealed on Monday, April 27, at a reception at CoCo Fargo (read: beer bash).
The objective is to try and highlight the region’s startup strengths, while pointing out areas where additional support and development are needed.
“We’re interested in seeing where startups are having struggles, so that we can better focus any assistance,” said John Machacek, the GFMEDC’s Senior Vice President of Finance & Entrepreneurial Development.
Or, as Ball put it, “We want to get more ammo for telling the story of our region.”
What’s in it for you? Karma, says Ball, as well as a free day at CoCo. They will also be entered in a drawing for some bigger prizes (yet to be revealed).
[Editor’s Note:] From personal experience, I just tried out the survey and it took about 12 minutes. If you are a part of a local startup, 12 minutes of your day is contributing valuable data to how we can continue to grow this startup community.
On behalf of CoCo, Emerging Prairie and GFEDC: Thank you!
