About Mark
Mark Ross, CEO and co-founder of Townie, went to Devry University and attended classes online. He is actually a singer and songwriter in the band Mark Ross & the Three Nineteen. The reason Mark loves going to his job every day is because he loves to create and solve problems.
About Townie
Townie was originally founded by Mark Ross in 2018 but he ended up taking a partner shortly after named Ge Ly. Townie’s reason for being created was on a whim when Mark was out with a group friends on a pub tour! Mark explains, “I was asked by one of them to NOT check them into places with us because their boss may see. I was thinking that it would be cool if that person could be tagged in and see the photos that we all took and thought that maybe the ONLY people who need to see that you are checked in are also checked in. This allows us to have random discussions and share photos, videos and more with ONLY the people who were there. This would also be in a restaurant where if you check into it you would see a live post feed of the others who are checked in and could randomly chat about things. Maybe even make a new friend.”
Townie helps localize socialization by helping people find friends, groups, and deals near them. Mark expands, “Townie uses location targeting to help people find deals, groups and just have discussions among the people that are near to their locations. If you are traveling to a town and want to find those things, Townie is for you.”
