1 Million Cups Fargo hits The Stage at Island Park
As 1 Million Cups Fargo moved to a temporary, larger venue last week, the event was also fortunate enough to host some special visitors. Friends from Brookings, South Dakota, traversed over the border to check out Fargo’s entrepreneurial community. Members of the 9 Clouds team were in attendance, as well as representatives of South Dakota State University.
Guests heard Coy Yonce discuss Mantis Digital Arts and Ryan Raguse explain Virtual Farm Manager. Although developing products in radically different fields – Coy in children’s entertaining education and Ryan in farming management – the crowd was able to discover similarities in the end user experience.
Coy focuses on creating fun, educational games that both stimulate children’s minds and impart knowledge. He does this through building video game landscapes made of items kids would use: construction paper, pipe cleaners, etc.
Ryan, on the other hand, is developing a farming management system that is easy to use. From synchronizing to your home computer to providing interpretable analytics, Ryan caters to his audience by providing them with readable information.
Like those who attended from Brookings last week, travelers visiting the Fargo area are encouraged to attend 1 Million Cups. Come for the coffee, and stay for the community (or the other way around – whatever you prefer). After initial pitches from the day’s speakers, guests are given the chance to ask questions and recommend resources to the startup founders. The founders benefit from the community’s insight and curiosity, and the community members get to become a part of the startup’s encouraging network.
1 Million Cups Fargo will continue at The Stage at Island Park this week. The address is given below. It will be an exciting one this Wednesday, April 16, at 9:15 AM. Miguel Danielson of Danielson Legal, LLC will have coffee for everyone, so if you are attending please take a second to fill out this form.
